NEWS

The Houston JATC is trying to determine interest in Continuing Education Classes.

The following is a list of subjects that are being considered. Anyone interested in taking a class listed below will need to contact the Houston JATC Office at 713-649-2739.

ELECTRICAL THEORY

This course covers the use of Ohms Law as it relates to series and parallel resistive, inductive and capacitive circuits. The course will also include the practical application of Ohms Law to real world problems encountered in the field.

MOTOR CONTROL

This is a hands-on course covering motor starters and control circuits.  The course begins with a study of magnetic starters and their operation.  Two-wire and three-wire control circuits are covered, along with control devices such as pushbuttons, limit switches, and photo-eyes.  There will be ample opportunity for each student to connect the control circuits in the hands-on lab.

CODEOLOGY

This is the Electrical Training Alliance Codeology course which is designed to teach the student how to use and understand the Code Book. An overview of the Code is given, then each Chapter is reviewed with emphasis on searching for and finding information.

GROUNDING

This NJATC course covers the National Electrical Code rules governing grounding.  Article 250 is covered in depth, along with the reasons and purpose of grounding, grounding theory and application, and safety.

TRANSFORMERS

This course will cover the practical aspects of connecting transformers in the field.  It will also touch on transformer theory and the different types of transformers which may be encountered in the field.
