Johnson Space Center

Being located in Houston, TX, IBEW 716 had the unique opportunity to participate in making history with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Back in the 1960s, Local 716 members took part in building and maintaining the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, originally called the Manned Spacecraft Center, which opened in 1963. NASA’s complex for human spaceflight training, research, and flight control, the center originally consisted of 100 buildings constructed on 1,620 acres. Johnson Space Center was home to the United States astronaut corps and is responsible for training astronauts from both the U.S. and its International partners
